songs to record:

Starting to select songs that I would like to sing and record to gift my parents. I was meant to do this for Father's Day but didn't get a chance to do it. Thanks to Giong Ai Giong Ai, I've discovered some really great Vietnamese songs! I love that show, it's hilarious.

Em Gai Mua
Lac Nhau Co Phai Muon Doi
Vet Nang Cuoi Troi
Cho Em Gan Anh Chut Nua
Thankful that I have a Smart TV where I can watch shows online with the family. I've been so invested in Vietnamese variety shows lately. Their entertainment field is really improving, lol. I don't recall Vietnam having such a vast variety of shows years ago, but thanks to the internet, I think they've finally broaden their entertainment spectrum to reach out to a wider audience. It's very obvious they're heavily influenced by Korean variety shows but I think they interpret it well for the Vietnamese audience. It really helps me to improve my Vietnamese, lol. I introduced a few shows to my mum and now she's hooked as well, haha.

city of stars

I absolutely loved the soundtrack to La La Land. It was the music that tempted me to watch the film and overall, I enjoyed the soundtrack more than the film itself. Sorry! I absolutely cannot wait for the concert at the Sydney Opera House where the Sydney Symphony Orchestra are playing all the music live! The excitement is real.

long day

Happy Monday!

Believe it or not Mondays are usually my favourite days and I look forward to coming into work because of my students, they're just that great and amazing. If I had a shitty weekend, I could always count on my Monday students to make me feel better. They're a very loud bunch but that's what makes the day fun. Like some of them have already mentioned, once my contract is up and I'm ready to pack up and leave, they know I'm going to miss them, lol. We joke around saying I'm going to need therapy after I leave due to the nature of the class, haha. The topics they talk about are....interesting and......explicit, hence why I'm heading straight to therapy!

I also did supervisory work at Merrylands ESG and had an amazing time there. My colleagues and my students made it so enjoyable to come into work. I formed a great relationship with my students where we were able to talk comfortably about different topics, especially when some of them weren't fluent in English and really wanted to improve on the language with hopes of securing employment in the future. Some highlights was when I discovered two my of students who are Lebanese were obsessed with K-dramas, lol. Over time most of them were trying to match me up with random Korean actors with hopes of finding me a boyfriend, haha. They knew my favourite Korean actor was Gong Yoo and joked that he would be my future husband one day. Good times ~

calm before the storm

Woke up earlier than usual to go for a morning walk because my body is thirsty for some sun at the moment. Did three laps around the oval near my house and called it a day, lol. I am so unfit. How was I so bothered to work out every single day 4 years ago? I need that motivation back.

weekly round up

  • Had brackets put on my back teeth and now every single tooth has a bracket! My orthodontist changed the wire and it now reaches my back teeth where it'll shift them into a straighter position. I'm excited for the end result. I glanced at his laptop as I left the room and saw a 2d image of a nice set of teeth. I asked him if that's what my teeth are meant to look like, to which he laughed and said, yes, "it just takes time" he said. I can't wait to take my braces off. A little over a year to go!
  • I received my blood test results and everything seems fine until my doctor mentions that I'm lacking in vitamin D, which is so weird as I've never had this problem before. I guess I need more sunshine and be eating raw foods. I know this year has been very different in terms of my diet due to my braces and that could be the reason why.
  • I appreciate that my supervisor (who is new to the company) is trying his best to get to know me better as we're both meant to be working together as a team. He recently asked me how old I was to which I replied,"30" and his shocked expression followed. He thought I was in my early twenties, lol. People are often telling me I look young for my age but nothing beats when I walked into a bank last week and the lady assumed I was still a teenager, lmao. I wasn't sure whether I needed to be offended or not, rofl. I told my supervisor that it's probably due to my Asian genes :) Honestly, 30 isn't even that old.
  • Had to lecture my class about a really delicate topic - body odour. It was the most uncomfortable subject I've ever had to talk about. Being the supervisor has its pros and cons and this is one of the cons! A few of my students brought up the subject after having a foul smell lingering the room last week. I decided to go through the OHS practice and procedures again while placing much more emphasis on personal hygiene. I hope I made my point clear, otherwise I need to bring the issue over to my manager.

brunch and movie

So today was a rather eventful day for the 1st of October 2017. Brunch with the cousins at Carter and G's for my sister's birthday and then some last minute planning for a movie during the evening.

Props to the staff at C & G's for being able to cater the 9 of us, haha. I ordered a fish burger and a nutella and salted pretzel milkshake - both were quite average, but eh, good enough for something local....practically a 5 minute walk from my house. Price was reasonable, though.

After brunch I went home to do some paperwork and then mid way decided to organise a movie for the evening. I suggested Kingsman 2 because I quite enjoyed the first one and everyone agreed. I was so hyped for the sequel but man, did it disappoint. There was a lot of unnecessary scenes and the choice of music during their action sequences was also a let-down. The promotional trailer looked amazing, which was the only reason why I decided to watch Kingsman in the first place. Overall, plot was way too cheesy, needed more action, should've replaced Channing Tatum with Joseph Gordon Levitt or maybe just replace all the American actors with British actors while focusing on a different plot. I dunno, there was just something about the sequel that I didn't like and the low rating at rotten tomatoes is understandable. I hope the third film will be better.

I also hope this stupid flu would go away soon because it's ruining my long weekend >:\
